The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine is pleased to announce that it has acquired the 46,000 sq. ft. Columbia Square building located at 435 Columbia Street in New Westminster , which also provides access to the Columbia Street Sky Train Station. This acquisition enables the Institute to expand its campus by occupying about half the building, in order to accommodate its growing enrollment of approximately 85 naturopathic medical students expected for the 2005/2006 academic year. Established in 2001, the Boucher Institute is Western Canada 's only initially approved college of naturopathic medicine, offering a four year, 5,000 hour program of post-graduate training culminating in a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine diploma. This new campus will provide the Institute with over 20,000 square feet of contiguous newly renovated space for modern classrooms, expanded library facilities, teaching labs, an expanded teaching clinic, administrative offices and student activities.
Our Library
Our library is a light and airy room that accommodates quiet study and group work. We provide four computer stations, a photocopier, and many electrically wired study carrels for personal laptop use with BINMs wireless Internet access.
The expanding library collection has over 6800 catalogued books and audiovisual resources as well as the following:
- Reference or Reserve copies of required and recommended texts for all academic courses
- Numerous periodicals on acupuncture, alternative and complementary therapies, Traditional Chinese Medicine, homeopathy, and herbal medicine, both in print and on-line.
- Two homeopathic software programs on the library computers.
- Six electronic databases accessible to students and faculty on and off campus
- An extensive list of free electronic resources useful for all medical students, doctors and health professionals.
- Anatomic models
- A collection of historical books significant to naturopathy
BINM was the chosen recipient of the Tzu Chi Institute’s resource collection when it lost funding and closed in 2003. This wonderful collection on alternative health research and treatment established a solid foundation for our current growing collection.

BNSA operates the school bookstore, organizes fundraisers and actively recruits and encourages students to get involved in enhancing student life at BINM.
